Description

System separator with controllable pressure-reduced zones type BA

System separator with controllable pressure-reduced zones, type BA, compact version. Certified according to EN 12729. Type BA. Connection: G 1/2" A (ISO 228-1) AG, Union. Operating differential pressure: 14 kPa. Average temperature range: 0–65 °C. PN (nominal pressure): PN 10. Material: dezincification-resistant brass DR "low-lead".

Technical data

  • Operating differential pressure: 14 kPa
  • Medium temperature range: 0–65 °C
  • PN (Nominal Pressure): PN 10

Notes on the system separator

A front-mounted mudguard of the 577 series must absolutely be installed.

How it works

The CA type non-controllable differential pressure backflow preventer consists of: an inlet backflow preventer (1), an outlet backflow preventer (2), and a drain valve (3). The two backflow preventers separate three different zones with three different pressures: the inlet chamber (A), the intermediate chamber (B), also known as the differential pressure zone, and the outlet chamber (C). The drain valve (3) is located in the middle section. The drain valve (3) is directly connected to the diaphragm (4). This movable assembly is controlled during opening and closing by the pressure differential between the inlet and outlet pressures of the backflow preventer and the contrast spring (5).

Correct flow rates

Under normal flow conditions, both backflow preventersCST12 korrekter Durchfluss
open, whereby the pressure in the intermediate chamber (B) is always below the inlet pressure (A) due to a pre-calculated pressure loss at the first backflow preventer (1).
The pressure difference therefore acts on the inner membrane (4) and generates a force that opens the drain valve (3) communicating with the atmosphere.
Pressure on the contrast spring (5) keeps it closed.

Inlet-side negative pressure

When the inlet pressure drops, both backflow preventers close.Unterdruck The drain valve (3) opens as soon as the pressure difference Δp between the inlet chamber (A) and the intermediate chamber (B) reaches a value just below the pre-calculated value at the contrast spring (5). The draining continues until the intermediate chamber of the system separator is empty. In this way, an air zone (safety zone) is created, preventing contaminated water from flowing back from circuit (C) into the water supply network, even if the backflow preventer (2) fails. Once normal conditions are restored (inlet pressure higher than outlet pressure), the drain valve closes.
The system separator is functional again.

Outlet overpressure

If the pressure in the outlet chamber (C) rises to a level that exceeds the inlet pressure (A), the backflow preventer (2) closes, thus preventing the backflow of water already supplied to the consumer towards the public water supply. If the backflow preventer (2) leaks or another malfunction occurs in the system separator, the system separator will always interrupt (separate) the connection between the consumer and the public water supply.Like all devices with a positive effect, the system separator is technically and structurally designed to guarantee the highest safety standards in every situation.
